A new serial number system. The new system consists of four sets of digits separated by a hyphen. The first set is the manufacturers code, the second designates the type of firearm, the third set is the firearms chronological number, the fourth set shows the year of mfg. The markings on the trigger assembly say 'Stevens Arms Corporation, Chicopee Falls,Mass.USA, Made in USA' on one side and on the other 'Stevens, The Fully Guaranteed, Single Gun'. On the barrel it is marked 'Barrel and Lug Forged in One Piece'. May 31, 2021 First off, Stevens 520 shotguns cannot currently be accurately dated with just a serial number.
